Day of Caring Volunteers at Kick-Off

On Wednesday, May 7, the spirit of community service was on full display as 431 volunteers came together for Day of Caring 2025. Organized in partnership by Orrville Area United Way and the Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce, this annual event matches local volunteers with hands-on service projects that make a meaningful impact across the community.

Volunteers representing 27 businesses, organizations, and civic groups completed 73 projects at 32 locations. From landscaping and painting to organizing donations, assembling classroom materials, and even constructing a playground, teams brought energy, generosity, and teamwork to every corner of the region.

A highlight of this year’s event was the participation of 70 Orrville High School seniors, who joined the effort as part of their Senior Service Day. Their involvement added an inspiring sense of purpose and pride as they worked alongside adult volunteers and nonprofit staff to give back to the community they’ve called home throughout their school years.

“Day of Caring is a day that really shows what’s possible when people from all parts of our community come together to make a difference,” said Jenny McFarren, Community Impact Manager of Orrville Area United Way. “It’s not just about checking off project lists—it’s about service, connection, and a shared commitment to helping our neighbors.”

Community support extended beyond the volunteer teams, with local sponsors and dining partners providing supplies, resources, and meal discounts that helped make the experience both meaningful and memorable.
